If you are worried at all about gaining weight this holiday season or if you already have,
now is not the time to panic. You can still follow these little known tricks and find yourself
getting a head start on your New Year’s resolution.
1. Eat with your non dominant hand
Sounds silly right? But when you eat with the wrong hand, you eat slower, which means
you eat less by the time you get full. Weird, but it works!
2. Don’t let the food touch your plate
“Ok. What am I supposed to do, eat out of the bowl?” Nope, it’s a simple strategy that
helps you practice portion control. And when you do that, you save yourself from belly
exploding calories and fat that is so present in holiday foods.
3. Do the “Forrest Gump”
Everyone knows what I’m talking about. When you’ve been eating, drinking, and sitting
around there is always a little voice inside tugging you to exercise. Well, when it’s there,
do it right then! And when someone asks you what you’re doing, say, “I just felt like
running.”
4. Give in to the cravings
What?! Really? Yup, that’s right. There is a little known trick about psychology and the
way our mind works. Whenever something is “bad”, and “off-limits” we are
immediately more tempted by it. And when we finally give in, which many of us do, we
overdo it. But if you allow yourself the freedom to dig in when you want, the guilt goes
away and it’s easier to realize when you’ve had enough.
5. Dress for success
For girls, before you go to the dinner table put on your skinny jeans, for guys, wear your
favorite “hot” shirt. The point of this is to be feeling and looking good while we eat so
we remind ourselves of how much keeping the weight off means to us. It works!
I hope you’ve enjoyed these weird tips and that you’ll use them to avoid gaining or to get rid of the holiday 15.
